The POS functions are easy to grasp, and their high automation level effectively optimises what are usually time-consuming routine tasks. They relieve sales staff, eliminate sources of error and improve levels of customer care.
In addition to individual ordering, when the PLU data, customer data and delivery date are entered directly into the POS system, Vectron POS systems and the Vectron Commander software offer an efficient, automatic branch ordering service. Proposed orders are thus estimated here based on statistically calculated, optimised amounts of bread, cake and other products. The proposed orders are generated by the bakery software and transferred to the branch POS systems via the Commander software. The branch staff merely have to adjust individual PLU amounts to the situation at hand. In addition to the enormous amounts of time saved, the avoidance of incorrect orders ensures that considerable savings can be made because both surplus ordering and profit-reducing under ordering are prevented.
Trade goods such as coffee, milk products or newspapers are also frequently sold in German bakery branches. Therefore, the Vectron POS software offers scanner support for a wide range of barcode systems, In addition to EAN codes for traditional trade goods, Vectron POS systems also support AddOn codes used for press items. Codes with price or weight-related information are also supported This additional area of application includes weighing labels for bags of cookies or individual confectionery packaging with current weight prices.
It is often necessary to equip a branch with several POS systems in order to be able to serve multiple customers simultaneously or also to facilitate direct access to a POS system in various areas such as for bread sales and the cake or snack counter. As a POS network, Vectron POS systems facilitate the simple transfer of open hold buffers between the individual POS systems in the event that the customer and sales assistant change from one sales area to another. The sales assistant can therefore continue the current service process at the new POS system without logging off the other one.
Vectron POS systems permit several open receipts from different operators to be saved simultaneously in order to ensure that no POS system is blocked during the product selection or advice phases. It is possible to switch between receipts at the touch of a button or through contact with an electronic operator key. In the event that more than two operators are sharing one POS system, an optional operator list provides a quick overview. This enables each operator to view and directly select his or her sales process.
Daily and even hourly price alterations enable special promotions, such as Sunday brunch. The POS system is programmed to automatically change to the adjusted prices at a specific time – either in the form of a percentage-based discount or a reduced fixed price. These options can also be used in parallel. While one time domain can operate with percentage-based adjustments, another can use fixed prices. Up to three interdependent time domains are available for use. The system switches back to the normal price after the time period has expired. The Vectron Commander is responsible for monitoring the success of these measures. It selects the separate memories for basic prices and modifications and facilitates the evaluation of sales flows in its reports – issuing either a detailed report per PLU or a summary.
A few minutes are sufficient to familiarise new staff with the basic POS functions because the menu navigation on the Vectron POS system makes getting started easy. Intuitive selection windows, buttons and structured menus guide the user through the operating functions. All selection windows are freely configurable and can thus be optimally adjusted to operating processes. For example, you can configure a hot key for normal rolls and another one for special rolls. While the first button directly registers standard rolls
, the second button opens a selection window in which the operator can select milk, raisin and multi-grain rolls as required. This saves time and makes PLU selection easier. Product images or icons are additional options which simplify user navigation.
Up to ten price levels can be selected per PLU. It is possible to switch between these based on the relevant authorisation. Percentage-based surcharges or discounts for Sunday or day-old goods are also possible, as is changing to fixed alternative prices for regular customers or staff. The information about whether it is possible to sell a specific PLU at which price modification is stored individually for each PLU. Combinations are also possible: a block on discounts for the product range may be combined with permitted reductions on day-old bread.
These changed product prices can also be mutually exclusive. This prevents several price discounts from being applied to the same PLU. Additional flexibility is offered by linking price discounts with specific operators. Vectron POS systems manage several data levels per PLU. In this way, they are able to manage returns, staff consumption or inventory figures in addition to sales quantities. Predetermined units of delivery per product ensure, for example, that tray baked cakes can only be ordered as a complete tray. Alternatively, products can be subdivided.
